2.  Service-learning is a method of teaching, learning and reflecting, frequently youth service, throughout the community.  As a teaching method, it falls under the philosophy of experiential education.

For Students  Enriches student learning of course material and "brings books to life and life to books".  Engages students in active learning that demonstrates the relevance and importance of academic work for their life experience and career choices.  Increases awareness of current societal issues as they relate to academic areas of interest.

5.  Broadens perspectives of diversity issues and enhances critical thinking skills.  Improves interpersonal skills that are increasingly viewed as important skills in achieving success in professional and personal spheres.  Develops civic responsibility through active community involvement.

6.  Blazer build is a project done through Habitat For Humanity where VSU athletes ban together to help build a house in the Valdosta community.

7.  Blazer Build is done once every year around the same time.

8.  Blazer Build helped me to understand and appreciate the tings that I have.  Building a house for someone who needed it allowed me to see the differences I could make in someone’s life.

9.  Bonding with my teammates was also another thing that I got out of doing Blazer Build.
