3 Why has MERL underachieved? A closer look at MERL’s structure LCI Leadership & Membership Divisions A ‘complicated’ structure: LCI needs 4 separate lines of communication to “MERL”, 4 newsletters, 4 manuals, etc. Coordinating local meetings naturally a big challenge.

10 District GLTeam Make-up District GLT Coordinator Selected by DG Team Approved by MD GLT Coordinator 2 or 3 Experienced Lions to Assist In Delivering Plan Selected by District GLT Coordinator DG Team 2nd VDG is Liaison

11 District GLT Accountability Appointment of GLT Coordinator must be approved by MD Coordinator Must Work with the MD Coordinator on Plan Good Communication Accepts Guidance Coordinate Plans Across District Line

12 DG Team and GLT/GMT The 10-11 DG Team Selects With the MD Coordinator the District Coordinator Closely Works with GLT/GMT Teams Each Year, the 1st VDG is Liaison with GMT Each Year, the 2nd VDG is Liaison with GLT

13 MD GLTeam Role Provides Guidance and Supervision of District GLTs’ Leadership Development Plan Accepts Guidance from and regularly communicates with the Area GLT Leader With Guidance from Area Leader, Develops and Implements MD Leadership Plan.

14 MD GLTeam Plan VDG Training Training at MD Conferences and Conventions Train Trainers for CGL and CEP Zone Chair Development Recommends Lions for Senior and Faculty Development Institutes Promoting and Staffing of Area Training Events Promoting Training Events beyond MD Sharing of Best Practices between Districts
