HUMAN NERVOUS SYSTEM Human nervous system is a type of centralized nervous system it is classified into different subdivisions.these sub divisions are shown in the following chart
2
DIVISION OF NERVOUS SYSTEM
3
CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM CNS consists of brain and spinal cord. Brain is divided into forebrain, midbrain and hind brain.
4
POSITION OF PARTS OF BRAIN
5
FOREBRAIN Forebrain is divided into three parts thalamus, limbic system and cereberum.
6
FUNCTIONS OF FOREBRAIN Thalamus carry sensory information to limbic system limbic system produce our basic emotions, drives, behaviours, including fear, rage, hunger, thirst etc Cereberum is divided into two parts called cerebral cortex.which is responsible for receiving sensory messages, determining intelligence, reasoning and judgement
7
FUNCTIONS OF MIDBRAIN Mid brain controls reflex movement of eyes
8
FUNCTIONS OF HINDBRAIN Hindbrain includes Pons,Medulla oblongata and Cerebellum Pons regulate sleep awake cycle Medulla oblonata regulates breathing rate,Heart rate,Blood pressue and swallowing Cerebellum co-ordinated movemements of body
9
HINDBRAIN
10
Spinal cord Medulla oblongata narrows down into oval cylinder spinal cord. The spinal cord serves as a pathway for conduction of impulses to and from different parts of brain.
