BUILDING STRONG SM Navigation Vision: Vision: A watershed which supports navigational needs of economic development, while protecting and enhancing the environment. Goals: Provide reliable, safe, and efficient transit of navigation interests through the slack water pools and open rivers of the Mississippi, Kaskaskia, and Illinois rivers. Provide an environmentally compliant stabilized 9-foot navigation channel. Promote a safe, efficient, coordinated, world class, sophisticated navigation system. Effectively communicate the risks and reliability of the navigation system to partners, stakeholders, and congressional delegation.

BUILDING STRONG SM Flood Risk Management Vision: Vision: Provide and sustain a comprehensive flood risk-reduction system within the St. Louis District watershed boundaries that reliably minimizes risk to lives and property damage. Goals: Develop a comprehensive risk-based plan for addressing all needs. Integrate stakeholder and customer needs and concerns into the plan. Operate and maintain existing system to the authorized levels. Communicate risk and reliability to stakeholders and customers. Provide the technical expertise needed in an emergency.

BUILDING STRONG SM Ecosystem Restoration Vision: Vision: Preserve and restore environmental resources in a way which provides diverse and sustainable fish and wildlife habitat, improves the quality of life within the region, and allows for compatible recreation and economic development. Goals: Develop a comprehensive and properly scaled Habitat Needs Assessment (HNA) for major river ecosystems. Develop an ecosystem restoration program which, in conjunction with the efforts of others, meets the needs of the HNA. Assist other public and private entities in their restoration and conservation efforts. Establish effective and strategic communication with partners and stakeholders to achieve goals.
