19 Additional information Uncle Pliny: He was an important man in the Roman Empire. He was a leader of the army in southern Italy. He was also a writer who wrote more than 160 books, many of which were saved. He is most famous for his books on Natural History. He died in 76 AD when he set out to observe the volcanic eruption and rescue people.
