1. Lecture 5: Muslim Family  A Muslim family is unique by providing a secure and healthy environment for its members to proliferate human virtues, and a refuge against any difficulty.

2.  Family is the microcosm of a society and as such there are distinct role for its members.  “The best of you is the best to his family and I am the best among you to my family”, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)  Every member of the family needs to share the household tasks as demonstrated – as in Sunnah.

3. Ingredients of a Muslim Family  Love is at the core of family life. It comes from the unconditional love for Allah and His messenger, above anything else.  Kindness, Care and Compassion in family will be rewarded by Allah (SWT)  Every member of the family deserves respect as human being.

4. Ingredients of a Muslim Family  Consultation is the Prophetic way of life, which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) practised in his domestic and public life.  Loyalty between husband and wife is the foundation of marital bliss.  Compromise & sacrifice for the family help the bonding between the members.  Family is a mini-state and justice established there has impact on the society.

5. Ingredients of a Muslim Family  Openness and transparency in parents behaviours have tremendous positive effect on the children.  Islamic ethos have to be established in the family to provide Islamic environment for the children to grow as a practicing Muslim.  Virtue proliferates in a righteous family, where husband & wife lead a meaningful Islamic life (al-Qur’an 33:35)
