What is conflict? An open clash or argument between two opposing individual or groups May also occur in the form of a mental struggle

SIX TYPES OF CONFLICT Internal A struggle that takes place internally within the mind. Example: Lack of self-confidence in certain situations, negative belief in oneself

Peer Group A conflict that will occur between friends, classmates, co-workers, etc. Example: Peer pressure, competition for a promotion

Intimate Partner A conflict that occurs between two individuals who share a close bond or relationship Example: Boyfriend/girlfriend where conflict may occur because of lack of trust or jealousy Husband/Wife where conflict focuses upon finances or living arrangements

Parent or family A conflict that occurs between children and parents or between members of the family. Example: Arguments about curfew or household chores or duties

Authority figure Conflicts occur when individuals express opposing points of view toward authority figures such as bosses, teacher, parents, government officials, police, etc. Example: conflict between Dean and Student

Social Groups or individuals who express their opposing viewpoints and strongly defend their viewpoint. These conflicts usually affect society and the communities. Example: Arguments about abortion, gay marriages or difficulties involving the balancing of work and family

CONFLICT ROLE PLAY Students will develop a skit demonstrating one of the 6 types of conflict Participation: 5 pts -All students are required to participate in the creation of the skit and play an active role in the presentation. -Demonstration of proper definition: 5 pts Ten points total
