3 Let’s learn about ‘comparative’.

4 Forming the comparative
: the comparative from an adjective/adverb depends – on the number of syllables and the spelling of the adjective/adverb.

5 beautiful - more beautiful
Form Rule For example one syllable, ending in ‘e’. Add -r to the end of the word. wide - wider one syllable, with one vowel and one consonant at the end. Double the consonant and add -er to the end of the word. big - bigger one syllable, with more than one vowel or more than one consonant at the end. Add -er to the end of the word. high - higher two syllables, ending in ‘y’ Change ‘y’ to ‘I’, and add -er to the end of the word. happy - happier two syllables or more, not ending in ‘y’. Place ‘more’ before the adjective. beautiful - more beautiful

6 = (adjective, adverb) + -er + ~ + than
<Word of one or two syllables> Basic! = (adjective, adverb) + -er + ~ + than Ex) old -> My brother is older than me.

7 Ending in ‘e’, Add -r to the end of the word.

<Word of two syllables or more> = More + (adjective, adverb) + than Ex) Expensive -> Car is more expensive than Book.

For every rule, there is at least one exception and there are also irregular adjectives that you need to memorise as you come across them. Original form Irregular comparative good/ well better bad/ ill worse much/ many more little less Far farther

-> The higher we climb, the thinner the air gets. (comparative) and (comparative) -> The air gets thinner and thinner. much, a lot, even, still, far + (comparative) -> (0) very (comparative) -> (X)

13 For example) fast (She's a lot faster than her friend is.)
Nice (Africa is far nicer than the UK.) Beautiful (She looks more beautiful than ever..) Good (You look better than your picture.) Little (The plan is something less than great.) Hot (This year is hotter than usual.)

15 Superlative You can put a <-est> after an adjective or adverb, give the <most> before the adjective or adverb And, When You use <in~> or <of~>, this sentence is mean that the best among the group ex) This TV program is the funniest. War is the most barbarous thing. Finally, it should be noted. You must use the <the> before the adjective or adverb. why? Superlative is speak the best one.

17 Example -When 2 syllable most beautiful -> the most beautiful
expensive -> the most expensive Example I-park is the highest of the Gwanganri apartment. I’m the hungriest in 4th calss Chanmi is the most visited in the convenience store Jeong-mok think the most handsome boy in the class. I was the busiest in the last week.
