Anything you want to add? Advanced handbook Logbook To get the certificate you need to complete the syllabus in the logbook. This should be possible by combining this course with a days coaching organised by one of the club racing coaches.

Why Race? Social, make new friends Somewhere to go Improves skills Don’t need to win to have fun! Don’t be put off by the apparent ‘high standard’ of sailing or the shouting. Everyone has to start somewhere and you might be surprised.

How Racing is Organised Royal Yachting Association co-ordinates Class Associations Clubs (where all the work is done) There’s also the ISAF but we won’t say anything more about them. Except – You can download the rules from their site for free.

Class racing Same class competing against each other May start with other boats but results then separated. BCYC Wednesday evening races

Handicap Everyone racing against the clock Handicap used to correct time round the course. Fastest corrected time wins!
