2 Lord Laming was asked to: Assess what good practice had been achieved in safeguarding children since the Victoria Climbie Inquiry report was published. Identify the barriers to further progress. Recommend the specific actions required to overcome those barriers.

3 Chief Adviser – my role To: Advise, influence, monitor and challenge Government Promote better collaborative working between the professionals at all levels Encourage the development of fresh ideas and new thinking Enhance public understanding of what safeguarding vulnerable children involves and the complex judgements to which it gives rise Report – first report to Parliament due April 2010

4 Laming on LSCBs Composition of Boards having a positive impact. However, still room for improvement. Relationship between LSCBs and Childrens Trusts vital to both bodies success. Issues that appear peripheral can not be forgotten.
