5. 2 indexes Forensic index DNA from crime scenes Convicted offender index- DNA from convicts (required in all 50 states- all sex offenders) allows for “ cold hits” - ID of suspect based on DNA without any evidence communications between labs/states- tie cases together/serial cases Technology- Based on probability can 100% exclude suspects but can’t 100% prove guilt
