SCORING Receive points for rank in each event 1 st place = 1 pt; 20 th place = 20 pts NS = No Show (N + 1); 20 + 1 = 21 DQ = Disqualified (N + 2); 20 + 2 = 22 PS = Poor Sportsmanship (N + 6) = 26 Sum ranks for 18 events Low team score wins Up to 5 th place medals given per event Up to 5 th place for team trophies

Current year rules (2011) NC event rules available at sciencenc.com Read rules very carefully (events based only on rules) USE our event resources site (being updated constantly) –Score sheets –Recommendations and common mistakes –Sample events –Videos and pictures –Clarifications (not National FAQs) Impound (anyone can do this) Don’t be lower-tiered Don’t be DQ’d - Safety! Create notebooks for content events based on rules Teamwork EVENT PREPARATION

Make sure you bring all requested registration items (roster, vandalism and behavior form, & photo consent) and event specific materials (e.g. goggles, aprons, etc.). Have kits for each event. Bring printed maps and schedules for team members. Bring parents to help with transportation and getting students from one event to the next. Dress for weather, events and to impress (show your school spirit). Protect devices for travel. Have a plan for feeding team members and coaches. Impound items at designated times. Anyone can impound. TOURNAMENT DAY
