2. 2 TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN California districts are receiving strong recommendations to move forward for 2012-13 Current law has not changed; the students affected by this law have the right to attend a transitional kindergarten program Governor’s Budget recommends elimination of the funds and suspension of the program At minimum, districts will receive ADA for students after their fifth birthday in November

3. 3 TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN ADA for 80 students: Full Year = $417,000 2/3 Year = $278,000 Cost to implement: 4 FTE = $280,000 Curriculum, materials, equipment, supplies = $30,000 Total: $310,000 Staff recommends approval to move forward with the implementation of TK at Podesta Ranch and Lawrence Elementary Schools for 2012-13.
