How do we define the personality traits of a hero? Oprah is a hero because “She has broken through cultural, geographical and gender barriers, letting the world know it’s not your circumstances, but your heart that determines how far you go in this world.” Oprah Winfrey has set up a Oprah Winfrey Foundation to support and to help support and empower the education of women and children and families around the world. Oprah Winfrey has contributed millions of dollars of her money to provide a better education for students. “I made a decision to be a voice for those children, to empower them, to help educate them, so the spirit that burns alive inside each of them does not die" ("The My Hero Project - Oprah.“) she has dedicated her whole life to improving other people's lives, she gives her best selflessly and doesnt expect anything in return when she does a good cause. ("Why is Oprah Winfrey a positive role model.“)

Why does Oprah choose to help the people that are in need? “I realized in those moments why I was born, why I am not married and do not have children of my own. These are my children. I made a decision to be a voice for those children, to empower them, to help educate them, so the spirit that burns alive inside each of them does not die," she said. "For as long as I have a voice in this world, my promise to children who have no voice is that they will be seen, they will be heard — because they matter,” ("The My Hero Project - Oprah.“) The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy is no doubt a dream world for these girls. It is luxurious; way beyond expectations and far better than the living conditions in their hometowns. When the girls arrive at the 28-building, 50-acre campus of the Leadership Academy in Henley-on-Klip, South Africa, they find themselves sharing a bedroom with only one other person—and their own bed, no less. They also find fireplaces in every building, state-of-the-art technology, sports fields, and art and decorations by African artists, all of which contribute to a nurturing and supportive, yet rigorous, educational environment. It is an oasis for any learner, but it is especially so for these girls, who come from the poorest rural areas of South Africa. ("The My Hero Project - Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy”)

What makes Oprah a hero? She encouraged the public to help out the Katrina victims, at NO PROFIT for herself. She built a whole neighborhood for the victims with the donations she received, and didn't earn a dime for herself. ("Why is Oprah Winfrey a positive role model.“) “What many celebrities would opt to spend on themselves, she chooses to help others with an open hand.” ("Oprah Winfrey 'the ideal hero‘”)
8
What made her interested in helping the people? “She has done so much, she built a school in Africa and it is not really her job to help people. She does it because she wants to.” ("What has Oprah Winfrey done”) “I realized in those moments why I was born, why I am not married and do not have children of my own. These are my children.” ("The My Hero Project - Oprah.“)

Are there organizations, groups, charities, and fund raisers has she set up to help those in need? “She has donated millions of dollars to various charities and organizations, with most of her money going to three foundations: The Angel Network” ("Oprah's Charity Work”)
10
Does she do work for those who are in need, on her spare time, and when she is not, on television? Like, set up fund raisers, charities, and organizations for them?
