Increase the awareness of cardiovascular disease Fund research that inceases an understanding of the causes, treatments and prevention of cardiovascular diseases Try to figure out scientific efforts to provide knowledge to prevent death and disability for women in cardiovascular disease

First formed in New York City by a group of physicians in 1915 for the prevention and heart disease relief. In late 1948 the American Heart Association made its public debut during a network radio contest, "The Walking Man," on the "Truth or Consequences" program hosted by Ralph Edwards. Millions of Americans sent contributions to the AHA along with guesses on the walking man's identity They organized American Heart Association divisions around the country, and in February 1949 they launched the first national-fund raising campaign, making $2.7 million.

In 2007, many new studies on genetics and stem cell research along with studies that continue to debate the use of stents to clear coronary artery blockages are among the top research advances in heart disease. In 2008, an achievement of breathing in cleaner air due to many smoke-free legislations passing, helped reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
