WOMEN’S RIGHTS Women living in the United States in the 19 th century, or the 1800s, had few rights. Women were not allowed to vote. Very few women went to college. Education was considered only important for men.

There are three types of Irony Verbal Irony: The writer or speaker says one thing, but really means something completely different. Situational Irony: What is expected to happen is the opposite of what actually occurs. Dramatic Irony: The reader or audience knows something that the characters do not.

REVEALING THE TRUTH On the back of the same piece of paper, you will be revealing the truth about a specific scene from the text. On one half of the paper, you will draw the scene as told in the story. One the other half of the paper, you will draw the reality of the scene (you must infer and interpret particular scenes using information from our discussion and activities done prior).
