Body paragraph – Topic sentence, clarifies your reason o Support – explanation o Trace the chain of events to the downfall of Oedipus Body paragraph 2 – repeat Body paragraph 3 – repeat Include in-text citations for all quotes and examples from book.

22 Wednesday - Please check baskets Work on Writing essays o Type up papers o Include in-text citations o Keep track of ANY information you get and where you get it from Be able to submit paper by end of class on Thursday or discuss with me prior to leaving class. Opening – Please get out your Outline paper. We will be using it with the posters.

23 Circle of Power Take your outline and visit the circles of Power. Consider your outline and position – o Make notes of items to tie in with each section. Quote Search o Each table is given a page to review o Look for and write down any quote you feel is useful for writing about Oedipus, his fall – his fault, not his fault, etc. Try to come up with 1 or 2. o Put quotes on board. Once on board – get your computer and open up googledrive.

24 Oedipus Causal Analysis Introduction o Brief back story o 1-2 summary of some aspect of play o 1 sentence – states your position and then lists your reasons. Body 1 – Starts with your reason o Topic sentence – your reason. o Give evidence from play – quote or paraphrase o Explain evidence – what it is, how it connects to reason, what it leads to o Give evidence from play – quote or paragraph o Explain evidence - what it is, how it connects to reason, what it leads to o Give evidence from play – quote or paragraph o Explain evidence - what it is, how it connects to reason, how all of this leads to the fall of Oedipus Body 2 and 3 – will be just like this. Must have at least 3 quotes in body of paper

25 Oedipus Essay Conclusion Conclusion o Sum up your reasons and position o Explain why these are most important considerations o Reflect on other side and why it does not have as much merit. o Take thinking to a high level. Works Cited – make a separate but attached page o Alphabetical o Hanging Indent. 26 Submit essay Essay goes into Turnitin.com under Oedipus Causal Essay Have it submitted by midnight Thursday. You may resubmit. It will be available on Friday – all day for editing. NOTE: If you are absent on Friday for any reason, you are still responsible for peer editing two students’ papers. It will be open until midnight on Friday. After that, the papers will be released and you can no longer edit.
