The origins of Thanksgiving The first thanksgiving took place in 1621.The pilgrims (english colonists) left England in 1620 for Virginia.They travelled in a ship called the mayflower. During the trip a lot of people were seasick and some failed to surive. They had no privacy and chamber pot for toilets. They finally arrived in Cape Cod, Massachusets. The trip lasted 65 straights days. They suffred injuries and they were bored.

Thanksgiving story Arrived in the New World the pilgrims met the Wampoag (native americans) who learnt to the pilgrims all they knwoledge ; how to build shelters, hunt for food, how to grow vegetables, and cure illness with plants. The Wampanoag and the British colonist celebrated the colonists first Harvest, since this time in America Thanksgiving is celebrating each year on the fourth Thursday of the month of November.

A happy day It's a bigger holiday than Christmas, all Americans try to get home for Thanksgiving. At Thanksgiving, people say thank you for the food they have. In a typical Thanksgiving dinner there is : roast turkey with stuffing, served with a cranberry sauce. The vegetables are : sweet or mashed potatoes, celery sticks, creamed onions and corn.

Thanksgiving activities American people can watch American football matches on Tv. It's different to soccer because players can't tuch the ball with they hand. The ball is like a rugby ball. This sport is very violent, as the result players have to wear helmets and pads to protect they shoulders.

Macy's Parade American people can also watch macy's parade wich take place in New York City. Macy's is a department store. The parade begin from Central Park, there are marching bands, floats and larger than life balloons.
