The World is Flat 2 In his seminal book on the subject of the global economy, Thomas Friedman told us: 1.The Internet and Windows operating systems have changed the way everyone does business. 2.Funds, offices and people are increasingly mobile across countries and continents.

Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education authored a report in 2011 stating 1.Complete Change in the Population of the Job Market 2.Dramatic Increase in “Middle Skill” Occupations 3.Young Adults not prepared for the work force 4.Multiple Pathways can lead to better prepared students Pathways to Prosperity 4

Certificates: Gateway to Gainful Employment and College Degrees 1.Certificates have grown from 6 percent of postsecondary awards in 1980 to 22 percent of awards today. 2.Certificates have superseded Associate’s and Master’s degrees as the second most common award in the American postsecondary education and career training system.
