“We hear you loud & clear 48 years later, Dr. King.” Senior Seminar October 28 th, 2011 Jovani Hernandez

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Commemorates 1964 when the Civil Rights Act became law. Located in West Potomac Park in Washington, D.C., southwest of National Mall. People from all over have come to see the statue in honor of Dr. King Jr. and his achievments. Sculptor with his “Stone of Hope”.

As quintessential leader Jonathan Custodio said… “Aquinas would support Martin Luther King’s decision to go to jail because he believes that natural law holds the edge over human law. He believes that any law that uplifts the human personality is justified.” Mr. Custodio is correct in his comment because similarly to St. Thomas Aquinas, Dr. King was trying to inform his contemporaries that “natural law” advocated for quality among all men, regardless of social and economic status, color of skin, and other factors. Through the argument of “natural law should overcome human law,” both men would have worked jointly.

As quintessential leader Darwin Fana said… “Martin Buber would support Martin Luther King’s decision to go to jail because Buber believes that any law that degrades human personality is unjust.”

Mr. Fana is correct in his insight because regardless of the fact that both King and Buber were faced with catastrophes (Racism and Genocide respectively,) both men fought for the rights that would uplift the human race instead of cause detriment.

Just some food for thought… Similarly to the movement King lead 40 odd years ago, the people who have led and participated in the Occupy Wall Street Movement have advocated for the betterment of those under-represented. They have taken the road less traveled by and that has made all the difference.
