3  A Transitive Verb has two voices. active passive

4  So, sentences can be in either active or passive voice.  In active voice the “doer (subject)” is important. We know the doer. Ali writes these stories. (Ali is the doer, “stories” is the object)  In passive voice we don’t know the “doer”, the “doer” is not important or the “doer” is obvious. The thieves were caught last night.

5 A VERB IS IN THE ACTIVE VOICE WHEN THE SUBJECT DOES SOMETHING OR IS ACTIVE. EXAMPLE: The hunter shot the bird. The hunter is the SUBJECT. IT HAS DONE SOMETHING. THE SUBJECT IS ACTIVE.

6 A VERB IS SAID TO BE PASSIVE WHEN SOMETHING IS DONE TO THE SUBJECT. EXAMPLE: The bird was shot by the hunter. The bird : is the SUBJECT Something is done to the subject.
