Kallithea Kallithea (a word which means good view) is an area close to the centre of Athens and has a history of about 130 years. It started as a seaside resort, where various intellectuals used to live. Today it is a large, densely-populated town with more than 200.000 residents. In Kallithea, there are two major squares, Davaki Square and Kiprou Square and a lot of other smaller parks, many schools, two universities, theatres, cinemas, a well-organised library and many sports facilities. It also has a big market. The emblem of Kallithea is Theseus, the famous hero from Greek mythology, because it is believed that when he killed the Minotaur on the island of Crete, he landed at the Tzitzifies coast, which belongs to Kallithea.
