Story Telling Notes The storyteller should practice TELLING or SPEAKING the story, one sentence at a time, not reading it. If the storyteller doesn’t remember the complete sentence, he or she can stop, look again at the paper, remember it, and go on. The listeners should close their eyes when listening to the storyteller. (It helps their imagination and concentration.) The listeners should practice saying, “Uh-huh” or “OK” or “I see” after each time the storyteller pauses. This tells the storyteller that you understand. October 17, 201519
20
Story Telling Notes If you don’t understand, you need to say, “Hey, wait. Stop. I don’t understand.” “What did you say?” “Can you say that again?” The listeners should try to answer the storyteller’s questions in complete sentences. The listeners can ask the storyteller more questions to add the conversation more life and color. The storyteller can ask one of the listeners by pointing him/her or by saying his/her name.
