8  23 campuses  Most impacted: Cal Poly SLO, SDSU, Long Beach State  Applicants must meet the 15 A-G subject requirements with a grade of C or better and a minimum 2.0 GPA  Most campuses require students to take ACT without writing or SAT (math and critical reading) by November test dates (some campuses will accept December test scores)

9  GPA based on 10th – 11th grades  Local attendance area school: San Marcos and Fullerton  No letters of recommendation accepted or essays/personal statements

10  Apply online  www.csumentor.edu  Filling period: October 1 - November 30  $55 application fee per campus  Send SAT scores to all CSU’s via one code: 3594 (CSU Mentor)  ACT still have to be sent to individual CSU campuses

11  Is the only Cal State that uses 9th grade grades in the calculation of GPA  The only Cal State that offers early decision (application deadline is October 31)  Considers extra-curricular activities as part of the application process  You must declare your major on your application  Very difficult to change majors at SLO

23  www.parchment.com  $8.50 each  Do not send any to Cal States or UC’s unless the college specifically requests one  Send only one to Common App which will go to all of your common app schools  Don’t forget to order midyear transcripts in February through Parchment  Be sure to request a final transcript at the end of the year to be sent to your chosen school

24  Visit CollegeBoard.org or ACTstudent.org to have your test scores sent to your colleges  To report scores, the cost is $12 for ACT and $11.25 for SAT.  Save money$$$  UC – send a score report to each campus that students are applying to  Cal State – only send one score report to CSU Mentor (code 3594) which will send it to all CSU’s to which you apply  Only send one score report to common app  The schools will use your highest scores.

26  All applicants applying to college should:  Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov to download FAFSA form. Should be completed as close to January 1, 2016 as possible  Complete the “Cal Grant GPA Verification Form”  Timeframe to apply for Cal Grant: January 1 - March 2  All applicants applying to private universities  May have to fill out the CSS PROFILE in addition to the FAFSA  Available at http://profileonline.collegeboard.com  Application deadlines vary so check your private university due dates  Scholarship information on our guidance website  Attend our financial aid workshop 7pm January 5th (MVHS Theater - district-wide workshop)
