Bachelor of Midwifery (Hons) course Thank you to all the candidates who attended our selection days. Well done for being offered an interview! The number of applications we have received, for few vacancies, has been overwhelming and the quality of the applications has been high This led to competition for each interview place Over 160 candidates met our short listing criteria and were invited to the selection/interview day. –For information on that criteria please see please see the presentation on the website for those declined an interview

Bachelor of Midwifery (Hons) course Selection for a place on the course was dependent on the number of available places We had limited places to offer so difficult choices had to be made. Selection was made by reviewing multiple factors including –the written work –the numeracy test –the group interviews –original applications including education profile, adult care experience and personal statement including the quality of the evidence for evidence of care to support personal statement

Offers for a place on the course Offers were made on consideration of the factors listed above Personal statement Written and numeracy work – norm referenced –this was not marked to any specific criteria but compared to other candidates’ work on the day –Did it demonstrate that you understood the topics from a midwifery perspective and were you able to provide evidence to support those topics Revisit the shortlisting criteria: –Education attainment (UCAS points and educational profile) –Appropriate adult care experience or strong evidence of volunteering –Did you provide evidence of care experience? Did you care experience relate to adult care and/or midwifery specifically –Insight into midwifery and the role of the midwife –An understanding of what would be expected from doing a vocational degree Were you able to present yourself well as part of the group? What did you project during those group interviews. Did you project knowledge, caring and compassion and respect for others in the group?

Bachelor of Midwifery (Hons) course Following the selection day, compared to other candidates, those that were not offered a place were less able to convince the panel of their suitability to enter the midwifery course on this occasion. The offers that will be made are conditional Should offers be declined, or if conditions are not met, we will be reviewing all those who attended interview and may be making offers at a later date. All subsequent offers are made on reconsideration of all interviewees.

For the future If you wish to reapply for the next course intake, in September, you may wish to continue your studies to ensure you retain your educational and study skills Consider any adult care experience you may be able to obtain Reapply but then keep us updated if you have achieved anything you would like us to know about Doing all this does not guarantee an interview….
