Final Project Aims To raise the awareness and participation of young people in Wandsworth in positive action against gun and knife crime To enhance working relationships and collaboration between South Thames College and Wandsworth schools To stretch horizons of learning through use of mobile technologies To share best practice in vocational courses

Prior to the smartphones 6.71% of respondents had communicated with teachers using a mobile device 29.53% had shared work with teachers using a mobile device. 13.42% of all respondents had emailed a teacher. With the smartphones 42.19% of respondents stated that they had communicated/ shared work with teachers using their smartphone. 21.87% said that they had sent an email to their teacher using the smartphone.

Recommendations Be certain that technology is fully tested Use a pilot group of staff and learners before rolling out the technology Ensure that staff are involved and receive training Respond to learner’s needs and develop resources with them Appoint student mentors and be open to suggestions and new applications of the technology
