2. 2 Classroom Content We will study the 5 themes of Geography Place, Location, Region, Movement, Human Environmental Interaction We will focus on the various aspects of Culture throughout the year

3. 3 Projects/Group work You will work independently, as well as in pairs, and groups of 3, 4, and 5 Various projects are scheduled throughout the year

4. 4 Grades Normal grading scale  100-90 – A  89-80 – B  79-70 – C  69-60 – D  59-below – F

5. 5 Tests and Make-ups If you receive less than 79%, you MUST re-take the exam.  Tests need to be retaken within 1 week from the day it is returned  Re-takes must achieve at least a 79%, or need to be taken until 79% is achieved.  Re-takes are also available if you score above a 79% the first time.  Make-up tests ( due to absence) need to be taken with the same number of days you missed. (if you miss three days, you have three days to make-up the test, But, if the assignment was due the day you missed it is due the day you return.

6. 6 Late work 80% credit will be awarded on homework if it is late but turned in before the test. HW can receive 50% credit if it is turned in after the test and before the end of the semester (I always reserve the right to hear special circumstances) All papers must have the proper heading and the assignment number-no names =80% credit.

7. 7 Classroom Rules You can drink water in class You can eat fruit. No eating of other food items, gum chewing, candy, etc No leaning back in chairs. It breaks the chairs, and can cause serious injury

8. 8 Classroom Rules Process of elimination: Warning #1 verbal. If you are distracting the lesson, I will ask you to be quiet, stop talking, etc Warning #2 move. If you cannot be quiet, I will move you in the class OR send you outside. If you are sent outside, you are not in trouble! If you cause a huge scene about being sent outside, or start to mouth-off, you will be in trouble. Outside is a “time-out” from my class. Warning #3 – office to Mrs. Lyte, and a call to mommy and daddy

9. 9 Classroom Rules No destruction of school property. If you write on the desks, you will be cleaning them. Please respect my space, and do not go into my area “kitchen”

10. 10 Teacher pet-peeves No backpacks on the desks. If I yell at you for not working do not show me your paper claiming how hard you were working. Snapping of gum. (Gum is not allowed, so this shouldn’t be an issue) Toys, playing cards, novels, calculator games, etc have no place in my class. Doing other classes homework in my class will result in me taking away the work for three days. If you are finished with my work, ask if you can work on another class, and I will let you know.

11. 11 Be Nice If someone is picking on you, let me know. We do not tolerate Bully’s on this campus. This can be classmates or other students on campus. Inappropriate comments or actions will be dealt with immediately. No one likes mean people, and they find themselves to be very lonely.

12. 12 Cheating Policy Copying someone’s homework Copying answers on a test, quiz, etc Turning-in work that is not yours Giving questions/answers to tests Anything you turn-in that is not solely yours is considered cheating. Each incident will result in a Zero on the assignment, and a cheating file will be started.

14. 10/17/201514 Be impeccable with your Word Speak with integrity Say only what you mean Avoid speaking against yourself or gossiping about others Gossip is poison, if you speak it, it poisons you more that the ones you gossip about. If you allow it, you become infected

16. 10/17/201516 Don’t make Assumptions Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with other as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama Assumptions are based on you thinking you know why people do things, and you are always wrong

17. 17 Don’t take anything Personally Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their reality. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering. If you take it personally, you are letting your ego get in the way.
