Presentation: «VIKINGS» Pupil: Konnov S.S. Teacher: Antonenko S.P.
2
The Vikings were the Norse explorers, warriors, merchants, and pirates who raided, traded, explored and settled in wide areas of Europe, Asia and the North Atlantic islands from the late 8th to the mid-11th century.
3
These Norsemen used their famed longships to travel as far east as Constantinople and the Volga River in Russia, and as far west as Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland, and as far south as Nekor.
4
This period of Viking expansion – known as the Viking Age – forms a major part of the medieval history of Scandinavia, Great Britain, Ireland and the rest of Medieval Europe.
5
More than the raiders of tradition, the Vikings were also traders and colonists who left an enduring mark on Britain.
6
The story of the Vikings in Britain is one of conquest, expulsion, extortion and reconquest. Their lasting legacy was the formation of the independent kingdoms of England and Scotland.
7
The Vikings are broadly viewed as pagan plunderers, but they were quick to adopt Christianity alongside their own gods.
8
Odin Thor
