These are the capabilities that enabled the exponential growth of knowledge in the world, and children, given opportunity, freedom, and guidance, are the most capable to take advantage of these capabilities for growth and development

WHAT OLPC IS GOOD FOR? Collaboration Design, Modeling, Visualization, Reflection, Debugging (To remove a hidden electronic device, such as a microphone, from: debug a conference room.)

HOW? 1/2 Access to connected laptops. School practice will be enhanced through electronic access to materials. Content can be updated constantly at lower cost. The ability for teachers to select appropriate materials for local needs.

HOW? 2/2 Day to day developments. The laptops enable support for ongoing teacher professional development. peer-to-peer support. Development of communities of learners and teachers, and local content creation and sharing.

How children learn? Meaningful Learning should include: 1. Cognitive development 2. Social and emotional development 3. Education and language development 4. Independence and responsibility {Play is an interaction between the self and the environment}

Piaget (1972) play: 1. play can serve many purposes and since children learn more effectively through activity rather than instruction, play provides an excellent vehicle for learning.

Nicholas Negroponte(a professor of MIT’s media lab-2005) who is the founder of OLPC’ in fact Dr. Seymour Papert(student of Piaget) had this idea for children to use computer – he,Negroponte once said that he hopes that the OLPC can work for children as a teacher!
