BioEye Week-2009
2
THE JOURNEY WOW…what an experience!
3
Chapter 1 The learning exposure and really finding out about a unique specie…the Zebra fish! What a shocking experience to learn how closely related the zebra fish is to the human body.
4
CHAPTER 2 THE PROCESS The surrounding elements that effect the human and zebra fish were observed throughout the week. Select a male and female zebra fish. One is to be an albino and pigmented the next several hours they will become acquainted. Place the mini aquarium in the heated tub for the next day of observation.
5
CHAPTER 3 FERTILIZED EGGS/THE BABIES Using the microscopes we could observe the eggs and any bacteria present. Yea! 72 eggs were produced!
6
CHAPTER 4 LESSON OF REALITY You can feel the anticipation in the air, as I entered the lab to see how the eggs were progressing. As we were refocusing on the scientific method of the previous days of the selection process, predicting, analyzing experimenting, observation and collecting data. As I looked through the microscope, sadly our experiment showed me that of the cell development of 72 egg’s, that only 3 survived over night. Flashback of college courses of Darwin Theory! Lesson learned with all the excitement of birth, only the strongest of the fittest survived. Just like income tax, death cannot be avoided!
7
CHAPTER 4 WHY As a scientist, we too, contine to question, which cells, eggs etc. will develop to the final state of a lifelong living species.
8
Chapter 5 CLOSURE OF NEW KNOWLEDGE Throughout the week, we cross referenced with experiments of transformation, collecting and analyzing data, keeping the information in a journal. Now to move and spread the learned knowledge of the new scientific tools and experience to a generation of the future….our students in the classroom.
