#9 – The Holy Spirit And Blood

 As a New Mexican, I’m aware that a large part of our nation doesn’t understand New Mexico is a state (since 1912).  Story of Al Unser Jr. and Indianapolis 500.

Who is the Holy Spirit? God the Father We Love God the Son We Love God the Spirit ???? God the Father is personal God the Son is personal God the Spirit is ?????

 Represents the Holy Spirit as Sarayu (wind)  Depicted as a small Asian woman who shimmers.  Defined by Papa (a large black woman who is God the Father): “She is Creativity; she is Action; She is the Breathing of Life; she is much more. She is my Spirit.”

 “Father, we love You, we worship and adore You, glorify Thy name in all the earth.  Jesus, we love You, we worship and adore You…  Spirit, we love You, we worship and adore You???

The Spirit Is VITAL To Salvation The Holy Spirit serves in a vital role in our salvation and eternal life. As Christians we need to understand His role in redeeming us through the blood of Jesus.

 1 John 5:7-11 – “For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement….And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”

 Baptism  1 Peter 3:21 – Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you – not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience – through the resurrection of Jesus Christ….

Romans 5:9 – “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.”

 Indwelling Divinity  1 Thessalonians 1:5 – …for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction….”

 Hebrews 9:14 – “…how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.”

 Holy Spirit came upon Jesus at His baptism and remained on Him.  John 1:32 – “John testified saying, ‘I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.’”

 The Holy Spirit was therefore in/upon Christ at His crucifixion.  The Holy Spirit was then sent by the resurrected Christ on the day of Pentecost.  He has since been the ever present person of God dwelling in each of God’s children.

 “How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?”

 Hebrews 7:16-17 – [If another priest arises] who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical require- ment, but according to the power of an indestructible life, “For it is attested of Him, ‘You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.’”

 “…and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

 “For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.”  All three persons of God were involved in the act of redemption.  Eternal God  Eternal Plan  Eternal Redemption

 The Holy Spirit could not dwell in man until the blood was shed.  John 7:39 – “But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believe in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.”

 Acts 20:28 – “Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.”

 1 Peter 1:2 – “…according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace by yours in the fullest measure.”

 Ephesians 4:30 – “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
