Resizing Columns and Rows To change the width of columns: Manually: Drag the bar between column indicators left or right Automatically: Double-click the bar between column indicators To change the height of rows: Manually: Drag the bar between row indicators up or down Automatically: Double-click the bar between row indicators

Copying and Pasting Data Copy data to create a duplicate Select cells and press Ctrl+C Use Copy icon located on Home tab Cut data to move it to another location Select cells and press Ctrl+X Use Cut icon located on Home tab Paste data in a desired location Select location and press Ctrl+V to paste Use Paste Options menu on Home tab

Grouping Data in Tables Define a range as a table to format and organize data more quickly Sort table data to change order of rows Filter table data to see a subset of data Add summary rows and columns Use the table formatting options on the Table Tools Design tab

Formatting Data Format text in cells to highlight data You can change the alignment and fill color in cells You can apply formats to numbers, such as currency and percent You can format how dates display The Home tab includes most of the formatting commands

Using Conditional Formatting You can format data based on cell values Conditional formatting shows data relationships Excel 2007 provides many conditional formats Create your own conditional formats based on rules you specify Excel includes built-in cell styles to simplify formatting tasks

Working with Themes Allows you to quickly enhance styles and formatting in a workbook Allows for a consistent look and feel Applies color schemes, font schemes, and effects for graphical elements Lets you use regular formatting commands to refine a theme

Proofreading Data Run a spell check to find typos Set or change spelling options in the Excel Options window Use Thesaurus to find alternate text Use the additional proofing tools on the Research task pane Always reread to find errors not caught by proofing tools

Printing Data Always preview before you print Use the Page Layout tab to: Insert headers and footers Adjust the margins Change orientation (portrait or landscape) Choose a print area and paper size Adjust scaling and sheet options Print from the Office Button menu or Quick Print icon on the QAT
