POINT SOURCE POLLUTION Pollution comes from SPECIFIC source; you can point to the source. Easier to identify Easier to fix EXAMPLES: Pipes, spills, smokestacks, animal feeding operations, animal waste treatment lagoons, wastewater treatment plants, landfills.wastewater treatment

NON-POINT SOURCE POLLUTION Pollution comes from MANY sources or source is unknown. Caused by runoff Difficult to identify Difficult to fix EXAMPLES: residential runoff with soil from construction sites, de-icing agents from streets, oil, grease and gasoline parking lots, streets, and roads where stormwater picks up oils, grease, metals, dirt, salts, and other toxic materialsstormwater
