2 Committee Updates  May SAAC meeting –Evaluated curriculum submission/review process used in AY2014-2015 –Identified areas of improvement for committee –Began initial discussions on the development of operating procedures of committee  AY2015-2016 review windows TBD by SAAC at a later date  Proposals received by SAAC after March 6, 2015 –Departments can continue to submit proposals –Proposals will be held by SAAC chair until fall semester –Department chairs will be notified in the fall of when their proposals will be reviewed/presented 2

7 Committee Accomplishments cont. 2.Developed and employed Blackboard shell for committee –Posting of curriculum documents –Means of communication between and among members –Forum to discuss curriculum changes 3.Collaborated with Vice Provost, Senate Chair, Registrar, and Administrative Computing on automation of the course change process 4.Developed, implemented, and published a timeline for submission of curriculum changes 7

9 Committee Accomplishments cont. 5.Revised curriculum review process −Established standing meeting dates −Activity during SAAC curriculum change review window o Independent review of proposals o Use of Blackboard discussion thread(s) o Submission of questions to authoring department o Electronic voting on proposals –Activity during SAAC standing meetings o Opportunity for department to respond to questions o Vote on proposals −Proposal modifications recommended by the SAAC o Departments to resubmit revisions directly to the SAAC chair by 5pm on the Wednesday following the SAAC business meeting o Revisions received after this will be reviewed and voted on during the next SAAC review cycle 9

10 Committee Accomplishments cont. 6.Increased communication and transparency with departments and university community −Meeting w/Vice Provost (October 2014) o Discussed modifications to the curriculum change approval process o Obtained feedback on how SAAC can help facilitate process −SAAC chair contacts authoring department o Receipt of proposal by SAAC o Identify review window and pertinent meeting dates o Tentative invitation to SAAC and Senate meetings o Assists department with SAAC review process −Posting of curriculum submission timeline to Academic Affairs website −Posting of curriculum change proposals to Senate website o Documents are password protected o Posted in advance of Senate meeting 10
