2 2 Today’s Learning Targets 1.I understand the five keys to quality assessment and can apply them to units of study in my classroom. 2.I have a clear understanding of the commitment for this work for this year including meeting dates, expectations, and my role as a facilitator. 3.I understand the process for setting up my team for success and I can plan meetings to help support their learning. 4.I understand that part of this process is building relationships within and across districts for the purpose of deepening my knowledge of assessment literacy and building my own support network. 5.I can continue my own learning and develop new or revise existing units of study using the CASL process.

4 4 Introduction and Welcome Networking Move around the room and network with teachers about Assessment Literacy. Chalk Talk Using a sticky note, answer the questions on the posters. This should be done silently. Feel free to comment on other sticky notes –How are you making grades work in your classroom/gradebook? –How are you keeping track of the data you collect? How do you use it? –How do you continue to transition your units and reflect this transition in your gradebook? –How do you make it work for final student grades? –What skills are necessary to be a leader of change? –How did your last meeting go?

5 5 Review of Group Agreements Support each other’s learning Accept non-closure Respect one another’s good intentions Practice being fully present Focus on content Have fun Share air time equitably Participate in hard conversations Take responsibility for your own learning Personal Reflection: Which one are you going to work on for today’s learning?

6 6 Data Collection What data did you decide to collect? Are you using multiple types of data collection methods? (surveys, pre/post, anecdotal)

7 7 Chapter 4 Preview Questions Self-Assessment and goal setting take time. Why might you ask students to do it? What do students need to know and be able to do in order to self-assess accurately? What problems do students encounter when setting goals and making plans intended to lead to improvement?

8 8 Read Chapter 4 As you read Chapter 4, keep in mind the preview questions and reflect on what you currently do with your students. Select at least 1 Self-Assessment Option to use in your next unit. –Which one do you think you will use? –What challenges do you think you may encounter? –What successes do you think you will achieve?

9 9 POTTY BREAK – 15 minutes

10 10 Success at the Core Success at the Core Exploration –How can you use this with your own group? –Select a video that you will use at your next group meeting (be prepared to share your video with the group after lunch) Begin planning your next meeting

12 12 Video Share Each building team will share the video they selected from Success at the Core to share with the group. –Which video did you select and why? –How do you think this video will help your group?

17 17 Work Time to Plan Units or Continue Planning Building Meeting Work Time (60 minutes) Find another group and share what work you accomplished today (15 minutes) Feedback (think about Chapter 3) Give warm feedback (What do you like specifically?) Give cool feedback (What is uncertain?)

18 18 Review Chalk Talk What is happening differently in your classrooms as a result of our learning? What are some successes from your classroom? What are some successes from your team meetings? How do you plan on incorporating effective feedback?

19 19 Wrap Up and Homework Sign in and out (even if you are not getting SCECHs…we submit these to your buildings) Next meeting is February 24 at WISD The meeting dates are posted to miteacher.org Homework Read Chapter 5 AND begin thinking about a unit to report out on in March Reflection Journal: miteacher.org
