History Ways and Means is the oldest committee Was first established as a select committee on July 24, 1789 (was discharged 3 months later) New committee was reappointed from the 1 st session of the 4 th congress in 1795; formally listed as a standing committee in that house rules on January 7 th, 1892

What does this committee do? “chief tax-writing committee of the United States House of Representatives”

Current Chairmen Born and raised in Detroit Michigan Earned his BA at University of Chicago Earned his MA in International Relations from Columbia University Law Degree from Harvard Married for over 50 years and has 4 children Has nine grandchildren His brother is in the U.S.A Senate Dave Camp- ranking member in minority (from Michigan and is a republican-incumbant)
