Note Taking 101 You will need to write NOTES on NOTECARDS for the research project. When given a source, WHERE should you look first? Appendix, Table of Contents, Index I give you a Red-Toed, Four-Eyed, Poisonous Rainforest Frog for your animal WHERE/WHAT should you look up first? WHERE/WHAT else should you look up if you cannot find it? Start GENERAL (frog), then get SPECIFIC (Rainforest), keep getting more specific (Poisonous, Red-Eyed) RESEARCH PROJECT

DO…and DON’T DO put quotes around facts you take directly from the text. Otherwise, you are committing WHAT crime? DO keep your facts and notes SHORT DO NOT have full sentences on every card(stick to quick facts) Two different facts in ONE sentence? Put each fact on their own card! DO stick to specifics FIRST Find all of the bigger pieces of information first Appearance, climate, lifespan, diet, etc. RESEARCH PROJECT

DO…and DON’T DON’T just change a few words or phrases in a sentence on your notecard You are STILL committing WHAT crime? DO write lists (diet, appearance) WITHOUT quotes and WITHOUT changing the words WHY? Lists do not fall under the Plagiarism category! DO NOT waste cards by not checking in with me or the librarian! DO NOT be afraid to ask questions! RESEARCH PROJECT
