Specification and Bills of Quantities Specifications are basically written instructions for how something is to be built – National Building Specification (NBS) is a nationally accepted way for producing a specification – Most manufacturers prepare their own specification clauses that can be used in the main document Bills of Quantities and Cost Plans – Lists of materials or components or labour with a rate or cost attached. This allows a full cost to be agreed or estimated – Cost plans with agreed set of rates are an alternative
