1. ACTION PLAN Samina Imran Khan DA College for Women – Ph VIII English, Intermediate level

2. L ONG - TERM GOAL : Adopt Innovative, technology based approaches to enhance Higher Order Thinking Skills in the students.

3. SHORT-TERM GOALS: To inculcate critical thinking in the students, enabling them to face 21 st Century challenges. To use activity based tasks for improving listening, speaking, writing and reading comprehension. To encourage peer sharing and learning. To make English Language Teaching purposeful and shifting the focus of students fro m exams to real life learning.

4. I NSTRUCTIONAL S TRATEGIES AND TASKS : I will provide more opportunities for the students to answer questions that require Higher Order Thinking Skills. I will provide students with opportunities for peer sharing and learning. I will motivate the students to learn English as useful tool for communication in the real world. I will give more opportunities of group and panel discussion and persuasive speech in the classroom. I will create learner centered environment, where my role would be to facilitate positive language learning skills through interesting activities.

5. SOLUTIONS TO ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES: CHALLENGES: a. Large classes b. I don’t own a laptop c. Electricity Failure d. Limited time for course completion e. Resistance to learn innovatively as at intermediate level students are exam oriented f. No facility for photocopying the hand outs g. Non availability of OHPs and Multimedia in the classrooms h. Lack of strength and energy due to number of classes every day SOLUTIONS: a. Group work b. Can work at home computer c. Can only pray for improvement d. Smart time management e. Motivate the students and appraise them with significance of English Language f. CR to share the responsibility for the class g. College Administration h. College Administration

TIMELINE August- I will work on motivating the students and work on creating collaborative groups September- Introduce with activities on listening and speaking October- focus on reading comprehensio n November- Focus on teaching writing December- Assessments will be conducted to gauge the progress of learning in the students

T IMELINE C ONT … January- I will focus on integrating language skills with higher order thinking skills February- Group and panel discussions will be elicited for enhanced reading and writing skills March- I would successfully adopt 21 st Century teaching approach in my classroom April- Final assessments
