Prewriting 3. Choose Your Purpose and Analyze Audience What is your purpose? Entertain, inform, persuade, reflect, describe. What is the main thing you want readers to know or learn? Why do I want to share this topic?

Drafting Stage Turn your prewriting plan into complete sentences and paragraphs (it’s hard, messy work – jot down notes in the side, write additions in margins, etc. ) Organize ideas into a strong introduction that grabs readers’ attention, a body that supports the main point, and a conclusion that readers will remember.

Editing and Proofreading Editing and Proofreading includes the final, 6 th trait of good writing: This means grammar, spelling, usage, punctuation, and mechanics. **Check out the checklist on page 17 in book and proofreading symbols on page 18

Publishing and Presenting (Whew! We’re finally done! – not so fast!) The last stage of writing process is publishing and presenting. 1. make a final, error-free copy 2 Turn it in on time to your teacher with all rubrics, etc., that she asks for (this keeps your dear teacher happy!
