3 IEEE in INDIA l Largest concentration of IEEE members outside the US, is in India. l IEEE India Council formed in 1976 l 10 Sections + 6 sub sections in India l 358 Student Branches out of a total of 1519 in the World and 481 in R10. l 4 of first 10 Student Branches in India l 6 (will be 7 soon) COMSOC chapters (IC, Delhi, Bombay, Bangalore, Kerala, Calcutta + [Madras])

8 IEEE Bombay Section India Roadshow by COMSOC Directors (Feb 26 to Mar 2, 2007) Roadshow undertaken by : l Dr Doug Zuckerman President Elect of the Communications Society, IEEE l Dr Roberto Saracco CTO, Telecom, Italia Member Strategic Board of IEEE Director of Communications Society for Sister Societies, IEEE Spread across 4 cities in 5 days Aim l Understand the needs of the Indian constituency l Advertise the benefit of becoming a member of COMSOC Roadshow planned & coordinated by Bombay Chapter

9 IEEE Bombay Section India Roadshow by COMSOC Directors In a short span of 5 days spread across 4 cities : l Addressed 8 audiences l Had discussion with representatives of 20 telecom companies l Met professors from 6 universities l Met President and members of IEEE Sister Society in India (IETE) Roadshow was very successful with directors recommending such roadshows in other countries of the world.
