1. NASA is an acronym for: a) North American Space Agency b) National Aeronautics and Space Administration c) National Agency for Space and Aviation d) North American Society for Astronomy
10
2. Today is the peak for the Eta Aquarids meteor shower (left over material from Halley’s Comet. This shower originates from the Star “Eta” in this constillation: a) Aquarius b) Leo c) Orion d) Gemini
11
3. When looking at stars and planets, these do NOT twinkle.
12
4. Launched in 1977, Voyager 1 is now in interstellar space and is the farthest man made object in space. It takes 18 hours for light to go from Earth to Voyager. To get from Earth to Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the sun, is 4.24 light years away. Since it takes 2 years to go 1 light hour, it would take Voyager over 17,000 years to reach the nearest star. What would you think we would need to do to visit a star system other than the Sun?
