* Adjectives are modifiers. * They give information about nouns and pronouns they modify.

* Two or more adjectives may modify the same noun. * Example: * 1. Five funny, clumsy ducklings waddled after their mother. * 2. Picasso’s ceramics are colorful and humorous.

* Regional and ethnic music in America has many roots. Traditional American Indian Music uses male voices and sometimes drums and rattles.

* Example: A man served the food. * The woman lives in a house on a street. * The child played with a ball. * Example: The elderly owner of the Cuban restaurant served us a delicious meal with rice and beans.

* Adverbs modify-or tell more about-verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. * They tell when, where, how, and to what extent.

* Mandy adverbs can come either before or after the verbs they modify. * Suddenly, the light went out. * The light went out suddenly. * The light suddenly went out.

* Most adverbs end with the suffix –ly * Quickly * Easily * Carefully

* If you need to modify a noun or a pronoun, use an adjective. * The drill was quick. * If you need to modify a verb, adjective, or another adverb, use an adverb. * The towel dried quickly.

* Jimmy ate his lunch. * The boy picked up his notebook. * The girl danced on stage. * Jimmy ate his lunch rather quickly. * The boy slowly picked up his notebook. * The girl gracefully danced on stage.
