Why am I here? 2 All educational programs and support units have developed assessment plans and annually report actions taken in the current year, results, analysis of results and actions planned for the upcoming year. March 2013 the Academic Council approved the Assessment Review Committee (ARC) structure in order to facilitate the institutional effectiveness assessment process at ECU. ARCs are chaired by representatives on the Institutional Assessment Advisory Council (IAAC). You have been asked to be an ARC member. Roles and Responsibilities The duties of the Assessment Review Committee (ARC) include: Guiding faculty and staff in adhering to university and internal review criteria and deadlines Reviewing the quality of assessment plans and reports using the university’s approved rubric Working with ARC chair to prepare the summary report presented to the IAAC in the spring 4

Helpful Hints Read through the report thoroughly before starting the rubric Review a report together for inter-rater reliability Complete in Word to avoid browser time out issues Save often and complete an entire assessment report rubric at one time 9

Helpful Hints Saved rubrics can be accessed using the link that SharePoint sends once a “save” button has been selected An email will be sent to the reviewer each time “save” is clicked Email your ARC chair with questions as soon as you have them If you would like to practice completing a rubric, make sure you select Test College/Test Unit 10

Next Steps Attend meetings of your ARC in order to contribute to discussions that facilitate authentic assessment Begin to review the 2013-14 assessment reports and complete all rubrics by October 15 Reviews will be batch delivered through email on October 16 Work with ARC chair to prepare presentation for IAAC (spring 2015) Contact Alex Senior (seniora@ecu.edu) if you have questions regarding the SharePoint technologyseniora@ecu.edu 11
