Yeast Infection (Candidiasis) 1/4 What Is It? A common fungal overgrowth caused by the Candida yeast. Candida can affect the mouth, esophagus, skin, or blood. Normally found in the vagina. When it grows in excess, it develops into candidiasis. Yeast infections increase the risk of contracting and transmitting HIV. 75% of women develop candidiasis in their lifetimes.

Yeast Infection (Candidiasis) 2/4 Transmission Can be sexually transmitted. However, it can also be transmitted simply through physical contact.

Pubic Lice (Crabs) 1/4 What Are They? Pubic lice are tiny crab-like insects that live in the pubic hair - but they can infect underarm, chest, and facial hair as well. Adult insects feed on the blood and lay their eggs (nits) on the shaft of the hair. Persistent scratching can lead to secondary bacterial infections.
7
Pubic Lice (Crabs) 2/4 Transmission Pubic lice can be transmitted through any type of intimate sexual and nonsexual contact. They can also be transmitted by sharing bedding, towels, and clothes.

Mites prefer warm zones - folds of skin on elbows, wrists, buttocks, knees, shoulders, fingers, breasts, and penis. Persistent scratching can lead to secondary bacterial infections.
11
Scabies 2/4 Transmission Can be sexually transmitted. However, can be transmitted through physical contact. Can also be transmitted via clothes, bedding, and towels.

Trichomoniasis 1/4 What Is It? An infection caused by the single- celled Trichomonas vaginalis protozoan (aka a trichomonad). Trichomonads can carry HIV and increase your risk of contracting the virus. A person can contract trichomoniasis at the same time as other STI’s!
15
Trichomoniasis 2/4 Transmission Trichomoniasis can be spread through any form of unprotected sexual contact.
16
Trichomoniasis 3/4 Signs & Symptoms Female (about 1/2 display symptoms) –Off-white or yellow-green vaginal discharge. –Sore, itchy vagina. –Pain during intercourse and urination. Male (typically asymptomatic) –Irritation and redness at urethral opening. –Burning during urination and ejaculation.
