After this viewing, we will have a discussion about the ideas he puts forth and the ideas all of you have on the same subjects. Guidelines for accountable discussion You have a right to 1.Make a contribution to an attentive, responsive audience (look at the speaker while the speaker is speaking). 2.Ask questions that clarify and advance your understanding. 3.Be treated civilly. 4.Have your ideas discussed. You are OBLIGATED to 1.Speak, so that everyone can hear. 2.Speak one at a time. 3.Listen for understanding. 4.Agree or disagree (and explain why) in response to other people’s ideas. 5.Critique ideas, NOT people.
