2 This software calculates the readability of all the text in an advertisement: headline, body-copy based on different user distances, taking into consideration for each element: the font size, graphics style and colour contrast with the background. Readability Calculation
3
3
4
4 The Layers panel lets you select the element to be analysed. If the logo is composed only of text, VIVID allows it to be evaluated. According to which element is chosen, a window opens on the right with all the evaluation parameters.
5
5 Readability calculation of a TEXT
6
6 When the analysis focuses on text elements the panel is called a Text tool which automatically recognises font, style (light - regular - bold - black), upper or lower case and colour of the selected text layer. With VIVID it is possible to intervene on all the elements recognised by the Text tool panel.
7
7 By analysing font family, style, upper and lower case features, and size we obtain a first parameter of readability (in the example 12.73 m) By adding colour analysis, we get a second parameter of readability. Step 1
8
8 If the Recalculate button is used, VIVID analyses the quality of the contrast between the font colour and its background and positions it on a scale of values from 0 to 10. Step 2 This analysis allows the readability calculation to be weighted by also considering the colour contrast between font and background. So we obtain a new, more complete, readability value.
9
9 If the value is insufficient for good readability it is possible to act on all the parameters to obtain the necessary indications to make the changes.
10
10 Readability calculation of a LOGO
11
11 It is possible with VIVID to analyse the readability of logos with text content too and not just graphics signs.
12
12 When analysis focusses on graphic elements the Selection tool panel is activated. Free tool lets you calculate the readability of a logo. You do it by selecting the top to bottom height of the logo, the font style and colour of the logo and its background. This gives us the readability value of the logo (in the example 18.78 m)
13
13 Colour contrast OPTIMISING COLOURS
14
14 Font colour choice can lower the degree of readability even when its size is suitable for reading.
15
15 VIVID allows you to choose a different colour which allows you to obtain maximum readability.
16
16 VIVID allows you to choose a different colour which allows you to obtain maximum readability.
17
17 Once a chosen colour gives satisfactory results for good readability you can proceed with changes to the executive.
18
18 Exporting data
19
19 The Export button lets you save an image with the readability data for each element analysed.
