Mineral Material Mineral Material Slag Fine Aggregate Coarse Aggregate Mineral material Classification It must ensure that bituminous mixture has enough density and larger angle of internal friction. Coarse aggregate, fine aggregate and slag are kinds of general mineral materials.
10
Gravel Strength: It can be divided into four grades according to saturation compression strength and abrasion(Tab.9.4.1). Shape: close to cubes, coarse surface, needlelike aggregate < 15%, water content < 3%, mud content < 1% Cohesion with bitumen Cohesion with bitumen ≮ grade 3, otherwise antistripping agent is required. Mineral Material Mineral Material Coarse Aggregate

GradeCharacteristics Applications in bituminous concrete First grade The strongest rock Anti-slide cover coat of primitive bituminous pavement Second grade Strong rockCover coat Third grade Less stronger rock Cover coat, bottom coat, adjoining coat Fourth grade Softer rock— Tab.9.4.3 Strength grades of Coarse Aggregate Coarse Aggregate

Fine aggregate: natural sand, stone chips Requirements:Hard, clean, dry, non-efflorescent, spotless Slag: Alkalinous rock (limestone, mirror stone, marble etc.), fine stone powder, Alkalinous cinder, cement, fly ash etc.) Requirements: Dry, clean, loose, fine, strong cohesion with bitumen, hydrophilic index < 1.00) Mineral Material Mineral Material
