Religion Vocabulary Religion: A set of beliefs, often centered around the worship or devotion to a god, gods and or goddesses. Monotheism: The belief in or worship of one god Polytheism: The belief on or worship of more than one/multiple gods. Scripture: books or writings of a sacred, religious nature. Ritual: Repeated and established ceremonies, especially that are religious in nature

Religion Vocabulary Temple: A place dedicated to worship
Rite: a formal or ceremonial act of a religious nature Atheist: A person who denies the existence of any higher being/god Agnostic: A person who says that god may exist but is unknowable, and subscribes to no religious belief. Priest: A person with the official job of performing religious rites/ceremonies

Religion Vocabulary Holy: Recognized as being connected to god(s) by a spiritual authority. Sacrifice: The offering of a material possession for the purpose of pleasing god(s). Covenant: A sacred vow/promise between god(s) and man. Reincarnation: The belief that the body, upon death, returns to life in a new physical form/body.

Religion Vocabulary Evangelize: To attempt to convert not believers to a specific religion. Meditation: The practice of dedicated thought, reflection, and/or contemplation. Sect: A part of a larger religion, a religious denomination. Prayer: The act of communicating with god(s).
