What is bullying? Bullying is a form of abuse. It is repetitive, aggressive behavior intended to harm another person. It is an imbalance of power and the victim (target) is exposed repeatedly to negative actions on the part of one or more other students.

Anti-Bullying Laws Types of bullying covered under the state laws: Discrimination, Harassment, Intimidation, and Cyber bullying. California Education codes: 234, 234.1, 234.2, 234.3, 234.5, 32261- 32262, 32265, 32270, 32282, 32283.

Bullying can be: DIRECT Face to face Physical Shoves, pushes, hitting, kicking, spitting, assault Psychological Rolling eyes, dirty looks, uttering threats, extortion Verbal Insults, putdowns, teasing, racial slurs, harassment

Bullying can be: INDIRECT Behind someone ’ s back Relational Aggression Telling people not to be friends with a victim Gossip Lowering people ’ s opinion about the victim by spreading rumors Exclusion Leaving out, ignoring
